Walking Meditation as part of

'World Interfaith Harmony Week'

1-7 February 2016
Trentham Victoria Australia

After a few years of being practised in solitude, the ‘World-Views in Dialogue’ project went public in mid-2012 in the country town of Trentham, ca 100 km N  W of Melbourne. From 2013 the World Interfaith Harmony week became a significant part of its program, with occasional events at other times of the year. Thus far it is mainly Interfaith Networks and individuals who have come to participate in the dialogue, the walk and the conversation.

After having participated in the guided walk some participants choose to return another day to walk and meditate on their own. Hand-outs are available with texts central to each individual religion or spiritual culture.

What this project distinguishes from other interfaith projects is:
(1) the setting: the earth as common ground;
(2) the ‘places of worship’, meditation of prayer: Nature herself as shrine or temple;
(3) main theme: renewal as next step in each religion or spiritual culture.

The project makes the wealth of scholarship and wisdom in the different religions and spiritual cultures accessible for the wider public within or without religious or secular communities. The dialogue happens not only between the different religions etc., but also between lay-people and outsiders on the one hand and religious scholars and leaders on the other.
